ABOUT JDD

.

JDD Consultants was established in 1983 by Dr Denis Derbyshire. As head of the Business Faculty at Slough College, Dr Derbyshire had organised short courses on intellectual property since the 1970s, in response to requests from members of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents and Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.

THE JDD FORMULA

Each JDD Course is evaluated by course members . Pleasingly, the feedback we receive is overwhelmingly positive and delegates recommend the courses to colleagues on their return. We believe there are four key ingredients to this success.

  • The key factor has been our ability to recruit experienced and skilled lecturers. We are grateful for their support and co-operation.
  • The emphasis of our courses is on intensive skills development and learning. Consequently, we select venues with state-of-the-art training facilities, but supported with leisure amenities for any post-course free time.
  • The residential element is an important feature of our courses. It helps bring together the Patent and Trade Mark community, with ideas and approaches shared among students and between students and lecturers, and it builds up contacts for future years.
  • Our courses are designed to hone knowledge and examination technique and highlight any significant gaps in a student’s knowledge. We expect students to come to courses well prepared. However, we also ensure, through course timing, that there remains time for any gaps and weaknesses to be addressed.

JDD Courses

JDD's first courses were in 1983  for students preparing for CIPA's Intermediate and Final examinations. Since1991 the courses have operated for the merged CIPA-ITMA JEB Foundation and Advanced stages.

For over 10 years we have also been providing courses  for candidates preparing for the European Qualifying Examinations for Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary in September 2008 with a special meal with entertainment. See photos from this event. .
